Seruwaia Kabukabu wins SPBD Businesswoman of the Year Award

Women’s Fund Fiji  (the Fund) congratulates Seruwaia Kabukabu, winner of the 2022 South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) Businesswoman of the Year!. The Fund is thrilled to see her receive recognition for her work.
Seruwaia’s journey is one of commitment, dedication, and resilience, and is exemplary of the impactful work that women in rural and remote areas are doing and continue to do to make life better for themselves and their communities.
Her advice to other women entrepreneurs is, “Nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it. Where there is a will there is a way. Bring out that superpower inside you. It’s important to have a good heart, take the good and leave out the bad.”
Seruwaia’s journey started with reviving a dairy farm and then setting up a small canteen through a loan from SPBD; and eventually venturing into cash crop and poultry farming.
She also acknowledges the work done through her engagement and her membership of the Naitasiri women in dairy group (NWDG), a grantee partner of Women’s Fund Fiji since 2018. She volunteers her time to work as the group’s secretary and is part of the group’s executive committee. She also acknowledges the Fund in building her capacity through NWDG allowing exposure to networking spaces, which has built her confidence and enable her and NWDG to connect with other partners.
“I’m so grateful to receive this award, this is a great achievement, it has not been an easy journey, but I am thankful to all those who have been supportive of me throughout, this would not have been possible without other’s support,” she said.
