Fiji’s Ministry of Women is hoping to encourage more women into science-based study with a four-day camp for 30 girls this week.
The project aims to boost interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and is being run with support of the organisation known as Graduate Women.
30 girls aged from six to 13 years old were selected from a total of 200 applications for the camp which is being held from 29 April to 2 May.
At the launch of the event the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa, said educating women boosts confidence, participation in society and reduced poverty for women and their families.
